Steve McConnell

Field Technician

 

Mr. Steve McConnell brings a high degree of understanding for mechanical systems as well as strong metal fabricating/welding and machining background to the job. Previously he served a structural services corporation as a working project manager and dealt primarily with residential and commercial roof/building moisture ingress issues.

 

Steve participated in the Alberta Stack Testing Training class held at Mount Royal University.  He now serves as a mid-level air quality emissions testing Field Technician.  Steve is involved with any and all projects performing field work using any of the approved emissions sampling methods.  He continues to expand his knowledge of this challenging field.  In addition, he has undertaken further education and training in Hazardous Materials sampling (Hazmat) and is now certified to do Hazmat Surveys and bulk sampling.

Hazardous materials bulk sampling

Client:  City of Surrey

2016:  Sanitary sewer pumping stations in Surrey BC Canada.  Collected samples of building materials for analysis prior to renovations.

 

Client:  Options Community Services Society

2016:  Conducted designated substances, mould, & hazardous building assessments.

 

Client – Parks Canada

Location:  Glacier Park Lodge, Rogers Pass BC Canada

2016:  Collected samples and built an inventory of hazardous materials for a pre-demolition survey.

 

Emissions Monitoring (field technician)

Client: Chevron Canada Limited

Location:   Chevron Refinery Facility, Burnaby, BC, Canada

2013 – present:  Set up equipment and test emissions, recovered samples and produced data for Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATAs), particulate matter tests, NOx, marine and truck loading Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU) monitoring, and all types of engineering tests.

 

Client:  Erco Worldwide – North Vancouver, BC, Canada

2013 – present:  Chlorine Emissions testing.  Performed stack testing using US EPA Method 26A to demonstrate compliance with Erco’s existing air permit.

 

Air Quality (Field Technician)

Client:  Hemmera– Metro Vancouver Region, BC, Canada

2015  George Massey Tunnel, Ambient air testing.

 

Clients:  CH2MHill and Kinder Morgan

2014 – present:  Vapour Testing, Burnaby, BC, Canada.  Conducted Vapour testing at the Westridge Tanker terminal’s Vapour Combustion Unit to measure the emissions of total hydrocarbons (THC) being released while tanker loading operations are underway.

Vapor Recovery Unit Testing

Client:  Shell Canada

2014 – present:  Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU) Performance Testing, Burnaby, BC, Canada. Conducted a performance test on the VRU to determine the emissions of recovery efficiency of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), measure the VOC concentrations at the VRU inlet and outlet and the volume of vapour discharged from the VRU.

 

Visible Emissions Training Course

Client:  City of Edmonton

2015 - Visibility Emissions Training, Edmonton, AB, Canada.  Operated opacity trailer to train participants to visually read plumes and conduct tests in accordance with US EPA Method 9.

 

Ammonia Slip Testing

Client: BC Hydro

2013 – present:  Burrard Thermal Generating Station, Port Moody, BC, Canada.  Conducted emission testing using US EPA Method 401 to measure the emissions of Ammonia (NH3) in the stacks. Ozone Testing

Ozone Testing

Client:  Inteplast Bags & Film Corp.

2015:  Ozone and THC Testing, Delta, BC, Canada.  Conducted emission testing using US EPA Method 25A & 411 to measure the emissions of Ozone (O3) and Total Hydrocarbons (THC).
